ROMANIA, Bodesti - Vladut Iftode, seventeen years old, plays with a cow in the fields near his village in Moldavia, the poorest region of Romania. Vladut is one of the so-called Euro Generation because he grew up without his parents as 350,000 other children in Romania. Over two million people aged between 18 and 60 left the country to work in the wealthier western European countries as Italy, Spain and France in the last fifteen years.
Vladut’s mother left Romania after she lost her job in 2002 and couldn't find another one; he was eight years old when he started living with his grandparents. 07/2010 © 2010 Chiara Ceolin/ Emblema |
