Description: At the end of WWII, the Korean Peninsula became divided. The southern peninsula today is a major player in the world economy, while the north suffers from poverty and human rights abuses.? For a number of North Korean youths and family members, defection and a treacherous journey south marks a "new beginning," but one not without challenge - socially, economically and culturally.
