Massive teaching - Yangon (Burma)
Massive teaching - Yangon (Burma) |
Description: |
Students less favored by fate have to find ways to get by. Many of them find little jobs while seizing the smallest opportunity to take an accounting class or learn a language. Mastering French or English means having a shot at working for a big international company, become travel guide or go abroad to work or study. Even though most of the private tutoring institutes in Yangon charge outrageous fees, a few of them try to remain affordable to reach this eager clientele. The young teachers that do so have the feeling of contributing positively to the development of their country. It is the case of Ye Thue, owner of a little language school:
?Most of the other schools charge Kh25,000 ($23) per month, when students make at best Kh30,000 or Kh40,000 a months. I never charge more than Kh10,000. All I want is contribute to the linguistic development of the young generation.? |
